Hockey is the fastest growing team sport in the world today.
Dunedin has seen a huge rise in numbers over the last 5 years, It is a fast, safe, fun, social and skilful sport that does not take long to get hooked on!

COST:

Dunedin has some of the lowest costs in New Zealand. Cost per practices and drop in games can range from $10-$15, this includes the gear hire - about half of the price of other rinks. 
Our hockey leagues are very cheap compared to other leagues as well. all of our organised games include Uniforms, Referees and Score Box.

What we offer:

At Ice Hockey Otago we offer everything you need to start playing ice hockey. When you come into the rink, one of our friendly coaches or managers will help get you set up with all of the equipment and gear you will need to get you on the ice. We offer safe, fun and effective practices each week to get you up and running.

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY:

Hockey is a very skilful game that takes time to master, everyone learns at a different pace, however, to pick up the basics of skating and stick handling, our coaches can usually have you ready for beginners level games within 4-8 practices.

INJURIES:

While Ice Hockey is notoriously known as a fast, high impact sport. With our Learn to play program, you are all here to have fun and try something new. You are never put into a situation to cause you harm and our coaches will look after everyone on the ice.
In saying that, just like trying any new sport accidents can happen, our job is to train you to best manage that risk and to keep you safe.
In 6 years of beginner programs we have not had any major injuries

what we need from you:

Just yourselves! 
Come dressed in non-restrictive clothing. You are in an ice rink so it will be cold for a start but after a few drills you quickly warm up.
Previous skating or hockey experience is not required at all, although it definitely helps!
Come ready to learn, ready to fall over, ready to laugh at yourself and have some fun! Hockey is such an addictive sport. it is very easy to get hooked. We all started as beginners and know what it's like. We want to get you skilled up and into the action as soon as possible!
